The episode starts off with an awesome opening to the action adventure tv show “Longshot” starring the titular hero Longshot.
We pan out to reveal the opening montage is being watched by the producer, Mojo, an interdimensional being who rules a dimension called “Mojoverse” where he’s obsessed with programming the most violent shows for his followers to watch. He’s stylized like a cruel Hollywood producer, abusing his stars and behaving completely repulsively around everyone.
Mojo tells Longshot he’s all washed up. Ratings are down, Longshot’s action figures aren’t selling and Mojo needs a new star to torture for his minions entertainment.
Longshot tells Mojo he smells like shit, and that other actors hate working with him. Mojo loses it and fires him on the spot. Mojo’s assistant, Major Domo suggests the super hero team, the X-Men on Earth would be promising new stars for his network.
At that moment, the X-Men are conveniently shopping for TVs at the mall, when Mojo suddenly appears and offers them a series on his dimension’s most popular (and only) channel. Cyclops refuses, which enrages Mojo, who then kidnaps the X-Men and transports them to Mojoverse.
Mojo imprisons the X-Men in his coliseum and makes them participate in challenges vaguely parodying popular TV shows. Cyclops and Storm get sent to a show called “Miami Mutants” where they have to evade robot riding speedboats. They fail, and get imprisoned in glass.
Beast and Rogue are sent to a show where they are space pirates getting attacked by an alien enemy in “Rogue Star” (with a little subtitle that reads “and Dr. Hank McCoy as ‘Beast’”).
Wolverine and Jean Grey are transported to a show called “I Dream of Jean” where Wolverine has to climb a building to save Jean from a robot dressed as The Punisher.
It’s during this sequence Mojo breaks out his Ed Sullivan impression which is pretty good.
This whole time, Mojo’s crowd is fucking loving every second of this. They want to see the X-Men get annihilated.
Jean comes to the realization that Mojo controls every aspect of this show, so they have to attack the control panel and not the robots they are currently fighting.
The control panel is operated and monitored by a sorceress named Spiral, who has six arms. Jean uses her telepathic powers to fuck with the control panel, which makes Mojo freak out!
The X-Men thwart Mojo’s plans, thanks to some behind the scenes help from Longshot, who also helps them get back to their dimension, so they can get out of his time slot.
In all the chaos, a large chunk of metal falls on Mojo, crushing him, or so we think.
The X-Men are transported back to Earth where Cyclops says “Can someone tell me what just happened?”
Longshot and Spiral are seen walking arm in arm while we hear the following joke to end the episode.
Longshot: “Did I ever tell you I dated an actress with two heads?”
Spiral: “Was she nice?”
Longshot: “Yes and no.”
